Our client, a leading global pharmaceutical company frequently needed to transfer terabytes of data between collaborating users as part of their drug development process. These transfers adversely affected the performance of their entire computer network. Although they used Qlik as a Decision Support System (DSS), a suboptimal technical configuration of Qlik resulted in frequent DSS downtime. Collectively, these troubles significantly slowed down collaboration and data analytics, which ultimately resulted in an efficient decision-making process. These issues also gave rise to security concerns as users were often shown content irrelevant to their work.
Systems Limited transformed the client’s entire data management processes by shifting any on-premise data to the AWS (Amazon Web Services) cloud, leveraging SoftNAS file servers from the AWS Marketplace, and Amazon’s Relational Database Servers (RDS) for storage. This resulted in seamless collaboration as it allowed for quick and easy data access to authorized individuals at any time and from anywhere.
The client’s Qlik servers were also re-architectured and shifted to the cloud. This expedited the generation of mission-critical reports sped up the decision-making process and eliminated performance issues associated with the client’s dashboards across the organization.
Implementation of SAML (Secure Assertion Markup Language) authentication ensured completely secure cloud operations. AWS Single Sign-On (SSO) enabled centralized management of access to AWS accounts and applications.
With Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) machines, maintenance costs were reduced and flexible storage capacity allowed the client to scale up or down based on their business needs.
