Sahara Bank chooses Temenos and Systems Limited to transform its Core Banking system
September 13, 2023
Sahara Bank, based in Libya, has successfully implemented Temenos' Transact Core Banking system, a project executed in partnership with Systems Limited, Temenos' regional partner covering the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific.
Back in 2014, Sahara Bank opted for Transact and initiated the implementation process the following year to replace its legacy system, Atlas, which was originally supplied by its parent company, BNP Paribas.
Sahara Bank offers a wide range of banking services, including retail, corporate, and institutional, both Conventional and Islamic. It boasts a network of 48 branches across the country and a workforce of 1500 employees.
Notably, Sahara Bank becomes Temenos' third customer in Libya, joining Libyan Foreign Bank (LFB) and Nuran Bank (a joint venture between LFB and Qatar Investment Authority).
Systems Limited, a longstanding partner of Temenos in the region, has been involved in numerous Transact projects, including those at the National Bank of Kuwait in Egypt, Export Development Bank in Sudan, and Soneri Bank and NIB Bank in Pakistan, among others.
