Asif Peer Elected Executive Committee President of the American Business Council of Pakistan

November 6th, 2020 – Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Systems Limited, Mr Asif Peer, was elected as the President of the Executive Committee of the American Business Council of Pakistan, as voted by committee members.
The Executive Committee is at the helm of affairs of the Council, and comprises members that are elected annually. The committee meets monthly to review various aspects of ongoing initiatives, and to coordinate with the relevant government bodies to protect best and promote the interests of US investors in Pakistan.
Mr. Asif Peer’s appointment as is backed by his strong leadership credentials. As CEO and Managing Director of Systems Limited, Mr Peer spearheaded the company’s aggressive global expansion, enabled by the constant acquisition of new technical expertise to serve an ever-increasing portfolio of clientele spanning three continents, and a healthy pipeline of business coming from the North American market.
In his presidential address, Mr Peer highlighted that, unlike many other markets, Pakistan is highly inclined towards generating foreign direct investment (FDI) and in order to attract investors, government policies have been designed to provide a comprehensive framework for creating a conducive business environment. “In the process of digitization, our combined vision is to put Pakistan on the global map for attracting FDIs, potential partnerships, the inflow of remittances and create opportunities for others to invest in Pakistani talent and labour. Our profound emphasis would be on upscaling B2B interactions essential for technological progress and building new markets by increasing disruptive innovations,” he added. The newly-elected president also included education and healthcare as key areas of the Council’s strategic focus, as well as reforming current practices, with the USA playing a major role in improving the overall quality of life of an average Pakistani.
Trade relations between Pakistan and the US are continually growing. The US has been one of the top investors in Pakistan over the last two decades, with major US investments concentrated in consumer goods, chemicals, energy, agriculture, business process outsourcing, transportation, and communications. Bilateral trade between the two countries generated Rs. 924 billion in 2019, with Pakistani exports to the US amounting to Rs. 518 billion. Over 130,000 people have been employed directly and a over a million indirectly. Additionally, ABC member companies have jointly spent over Rs. 1 billion in CSR programs last year, impacting more than 7 million lives.

Recently, the company was awarded Top IT Exporter Award for 2019 by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), an apex Government body mandated to promote Pakistan’s IT Industry in local and international markets.
The Executive Committee of the American Business Council of Pakistan consists of business leaders and entrepreneurs from some of the most prominent Pakistani and American organizations, and elects a member to be the Committee President each year to lead the Council in achieving its objectives of developing commerce between the US and Pakistan.
